Kwame Nsiah-Apau, known by his stage name Okyeame Kwame, is marking his 50th birthday with a charity initiative aimed at supporting child healthcare in Kumasi.
The musician and alumnus of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, said he will host an all-white concert on April 18, 2026, to raise funds for a new paediatric emergency unit at the Manhyia Government Hospital.
The event, titled “A Night of 50 Songs in Love,” will feature ten young artistes, each performing five songs, bringing the total to fifty in honour of his golden jubilee.
“The aspect of love is that we are raising money to build the new paediatric emergency unit at the Manhyia Hospital,” he said.
Okyeame Kwame said the initiative goes beyond celebration and is driven by the need to improve emergency care for children.
He noted that the current paediatric emergency unit at the hospital has only two beds, forcing medical staff to improvise by converting a veranda into an emergency space.
“Imagine your child having an accident or swallowing something and arriving at a place that lacks enough beds, oxygen support, or proper ventilation,” he said.
“We want to change that, and we want an ultra-modern emergency unit where children can receive dignified and immediate care,” he added.
